Manish Kangia

The Founder

Trained in Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical Contemporary. He believes good training is a must for great dancing, and there is no shortcut to it.

Over a period of 4 years (2009-2012) Manish received diverse training from

  • Anthony Noa (Ballet)
  • Tino Sanchez (Modern/Contemporary)
  • Gabor Sziraky (Ballet)
  • Heidi Weiss (Contemporary)
  • Sheila Coleman (Modern/Contemporary)
  • Pankaj Guglani (Jazz/Lyrical)
  • Asha Thomas (Modern/Contemporary)

Manish teaches lyrical contemporary for all the levels namely basic, intermediate and advance. He also teaches ballet and jazz as a part of his classes to strengthen foundation. He likes to work on challenging choreographies but does not shy away from simple routines to help focus on basics.

Manish has been teaching and educating since 2008. He believes that each class needs to be tailored according to the dancers and one needs to be open to possibilities when it comes to teaching dance. He believes that freedom to move, along with the clarity of technique is a great skill that each dancer must strive for.

The Motivation

Journey

' Looking back on my journey, in my early twenties, I faced the challenge every dancer faces in India, lack of opportunity to create a stable dance profession. Now, I keep thinking if I had received an opportunity, how different my life would have been today. '
- Manish Kangia

Vision

MKAD aims to build the environment and opportunity for people to become dancers, fulfil their dreams, without worrying about how they would gather money to travel abroad to get dance education or then teach styles they don't really connect with, to earn enough in order to survive.

MKAD aims to be the support system that talent needs to convert it into a profession and be able to reply strongly when someone says "So what else do you do?" when asked for their profession and they answer "I am a Dancer".

This is a cultural change which will take a huge, collective effort over the years, and that is what we have set out for. We know it is a tough one, because if it was easy, someone would have done it already.
